I would thoroughly recommend this program for it's practical and useful techniques.
Lily Wong, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (R.C.M.P.) In this society that we live in, which is sadly becoming increasingly more dangerous and violent, your Hands Off training could well represent the most valuable and productive few hours of one's life...Thanks again, and may this invaluable training continue to touch the lives of more people. George N. Ostashek, Ministry of the Attorney General, Government of British Columbia The print and video material and demonstrations were valuable, offering sensible, simple strategies with which participants could actually feel some immediate confidence. I would personally recommend this program to others. Valerie Ovegaard, Academic Assistant to the Dean, University of British Columbia Internet Safety for TeensHow would we get by without the Internet? The world wide web is how many of us stay in touch with friends, find information, or find out the latest news. Despite all the benefits of this medium the Internet offers a lot of ways to get into trouble. And just like in the real world, people you encounter online may try to take advantage of you, financially or physically. Being AwareYou've all heard stories about teens who get into trouble in chat rooms. This is because users can easily remain anonymous, chat rooms often attract people who are interested in more than just chatting. You may find people who ask you for information about yourself, your family, or where you live; information that shouldn't be given away. Very often, people who ask for personal information like home addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses will use this information for spamming. In too many cases predators will use this information to begin illegal or indecent relationships or to harm a person's or family's well-being. With our internet safety program aimed at teens we expose the dangers and techniques that these predators will use to fool you and possibly cause you harm. MaterialsOur program includes a feature length film entitled “Dating.con” This fictional movie is based in fact and showcases the danger that teenagers face whilst communicating with strangers on the internet. The program will be expanded to include an educational DVD and Book. |
