Protect Your Loved Ones
Both Rob and Judy are excellent presenters who have assisted staff in problem solving and providing us with the skills to practice the techniques as a group throughout the year. We feel this program has been most beneficial and would recommend anyone working in a similar environment of this valuable resource.

It was very obvious that the instructors had studied intermediate care and knew specifically the commonplace situations which staff cope with. It was also obvious that the instructors were aware of the frail nature of our intermediate care clients, and the interventions we were taught took both client and care giver safety into account. The teachings included an emphasis on verbal de-escalation before physical approaches, and also included reminders, that, even when a physical intervention has become necessary, it remains important to maintain the resident’s self-esteem and feelings of autonomy. I recommend this course to anyone working with a frail, elderly, intermediate care population.

Hands OFF! Managing Aggressive Behavior in the Workplace

Hands OFF! Managing Aggressive Behavior: The main objective of this program is to promote safety in the workplace and deal with inappropriate behavior in the workplace.

Who will benefit from this program?

Health Care Givers, Realtors, Airline Employees, Teachers, Hotel Staff, Restaurant & Club Staff... anyone working in an environment where they deal with people on a daily basis would greatly benefit from this program.

The intention is not to encourage the use of physical force but to teach methods that can be used to escape physical danger. In doing so, we hope to minimize panic and increase individual ability to recognize and respond quickly to the first signs of trouble.

The program teaches employees to draw on their own natural instincts. Issues such as:

• Recognizing early signs of aggression

Reading body language

Diffusing aggression

• Diffusing a physical challenge

Preventing aggression

The known aggressor

• Dealing with psychotic patients

• Working in confined spaces

• The importance of confidence

Safe physical intervention

Breaking up fights

Restraining holds

Dealing with extreme or life threatening violence

Obviously, preventing and diffusing aggressive behavior is the ideal goal.

However, it is no secret that sometimes the opportunity to use these strategies beforehand is not available and consequently they are forced to respond.

Materials

The program includes the DVD and booklet guiding viewers through the moves with full explanations on how the techniques work.
